    Payroll Accountant

    Position Description

     

    Title:  Payroll Accountant

    Reports to:  Senior Manager, Corporate

     

    Position Summary:  Working closely with the Corporate Accounting and Payroll departments, the incumbent will be responsible for the accurate accounting of payroll transactions, monthly reporting, and payroll analytics.   The objective is to maintain accurate and timely accounting & payroll information for internal and external reporting. 

     

    Responsibilities:

     

    Payroll

    • Prepare payroll journal entries for each pay period including regional allocations, crew allocations, etc
    • Prepare monthly accrual journal entries
    • Run monthly budget to actual variance reports and perform detailed analysis with explanations
    • Payroll analytics as required
    • Creating new reports as required
    • Involved in the budgeting process – creating and maintaining templates, etc
    • Monthly reconciliation of payroll accounts to ADP data
    • Prepare JE and reports for management and analytics
    • Prepare detailed annual budgets for salaries and benefits by property, including cost allocations
    • Responsible for dealing with auditor’s requirements on a quarterly and annual basis
    • Responsible for maintenance of benefit and stock plans
    • Other duties as assigned by management

     Qualifications:

    • 3 - 5 years related experience; emphasis on analytics ; post-secondary education
    • Knowledge of accounting principles and theories
    • Experience with SAP an asset
    • Must have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel – advanced level
    • Discretion and sensitivity regarding confidential information
    • Excellent analytical skills essential
    • Well organized and able to manage time effectively
    • Able to work under tight deadlines and ability to multitask and be flexible
