Financial Analyst, Co-op Student (Winter 2026)

Title: Financial Analyst, Co-op Student (Winter 2026) 

 

Reports To: Manager, Financing

 

Work Type: Hybrid, 3 days a week in the office

 

Position Summary: Ready to gain practical experience for your CPA while elevating your financial skills? Join our Finance & Accounting team at CAPREIT! This co-op experience is an excellent way for you to learn about real estate industry, and you will play a key role in supporting accounting and financial analysis along with other responsibilities. This position offers you great exposure to mortgage financing and treasury through direct communications to institutional lenders. Last but not least, CAPREIT offers CPA pre-approved programs to help you meet your practical experiences.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Book journal entries for CAPREIT’s mortgage portfolio for month end
  • Work on quarterly financial reporting of the sections related to mortgage payable
  • Work on bank account reconciliation
  • Work on monthly variance analysis between Forecast and Actuals, respond to FP&A and Financial Reporting team’s inquiry
  • Ad hoc analysis as assigned
  • Assist in annual compliance reporting required by CMHC and lenders
  • Coordinate and administer the lender underwriting process, including liaising directly with the lenders and answering their follow-up questions on a timely basis
  • Provide required documents to lenders including NOI statement, rent roll, property tax proofs, ESA report and other property-related info

 

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years accounting or finance experience, real estate experience or knowledge preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration
  • Strong time management, multi-tasking and organization skills
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite functionality
  • Experience with SAP preferred
