
Title: Network Administrator
Reports To: Manager, IT Network
Responsibilities
- Support & Maintenance:
- Configure, support, and maintain all local and wide area network (LAN/WAN) connections, fixed-line voice/VoIP networks, associated hardware, software, and communication infrastructure.
- Administer and maintain all data (production and non-production environments) and telephony networks; liaise with third-party telecom/ISP providers when required.
- Assist the Corporate Facilities team with desk and office moves, including physical IT asset relocations.
- Provide escalation support to the Help Desk for incident troubleshooting and issue resolution, proactively identifying and resolving network performance bottlenecks.
- Partner with the Enterprise Business Applications team during patching, maintenance, upgrades, and application-related activities.
- Network Operations & Optimization:
- Troubleshoot and resolve network performance issues; analyze network traffic and provide capacity planning solutions.
- Plan, design, and implement network improvements, modifications, or replacements, ensuring the stability, scalability, and efficiency of company networks.
- Monitor system and network capacity to anticipate performance impacts; recommend enhancements to meet evolving business needs.
- Ensure reliable network and IP connectivity across all workstations, application servers, and back-end infrastructure.
- Collaboration & Mobility:
- Provide hands-on support across multiple offices, requiring regular travel to sites within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and occasional travel to other provinces.
- Maintain a regular in-office presence, typically 3–5 days per week.
- Other:
- Participating in on-call rotations and after-hours support is necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the reporting manager.
Qualifications
- Education & Certifications:
- Diploma/Certificate in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- CCNA certification or equivalent required; CCNP or CCIE (Routing & Switching) preferred.
- Security and cloud focused knowledge are preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience implementing, operating, and troubleshooting enterprise data networks.
- Strong knowledge of Cisco IOS, Cisco Nexus OS, routing/switching protocols, Cisco VPN & remote access protocols, and Windows desktop operating systems.
- Demonstrated experience with Cisco UCM platforms and VoIP technologies (preferred).
- Proficiency with Cisco Meraki SD-WAN and Cisco Firewall technologies.
- Strong experience with Cisco switches, routers, firewalls, security appliances, and associated networking technologies.
- Familiarity with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) and role-based access control (preferred).
- Experience with capacity planning and network performance monitoring tools.
- Experience with cloud-based networking (Azure, AWS, networking solutions) is an asset.
- Knowledge of network security best-practices, including VPNs, and endpoint security solutions preferred.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware/Hyper-V) and wireless networking solutions (Cisco Wireless) is an advantage.
