Title: Manager, Accounting (*12 month contract*)

Reports To: Vice President, Finance

 

Position Summary: The Manager, Accounting is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the accounting records of CAPREIT's Corporate Accounting division which includes general accounting, budgeting and forecasting. The position will work closely with and lead the members of his/her team as well as other various stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the accounting records relating to capital expenditure, development, and other corporate functions.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Corporate Accounting

  • Manage certain accounting processes and ensure data integrity of accounting records
  • Consolidate accounting records for preparation of summarized reports, including intercompany transactions, elimination and foreign currency translation
  • Assist in the documentation & implementation of accounting policies and principles which may affect the SAP system or others
  • Train accounting teams on any new accounting procedure or policy change
  • Conduct regular meetings to promote two-way communication of best practices in business and system processes
  • Provide support to the head office team relating to month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
  • Assist in the implementation of new accounting systems / processes
  • Liaise with the auditors and their requirements

 

Special Projects

  • Continuous review of business processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
  • Ad hoc tasks as requested by senior management

 

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation or close to completion
  • 3-5 years relevant accounting experience
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Excellent knowledge of IFRS applicable to area of responsibility
  • Effective organization and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Excel is a requirement
  • Proficiency in the SAP and/or Yardi system would be an asset
