Title: Bilingual Claims & Risk Management Coordinator
Reports To: Manager, Risk and Insurance (based at 11 Church Street, Toronto)
Summary: The Bilingual Claims & Risk Management Coordinator will have responsibility for supporting CAPREIT’s Insurance Risk Management programs with a focus on claims administration and tenant insurance management.
Responsibilities:
Claims Administration
- Monitors and actions incident reports/claims on internal claims system
- Reviews, records and marks incident reports for action by the third-party claims administrator
- Manages liability claims through CAPREIT’s third Party claims administrator and monitors claims to ensure timely and appropriate closure
- Manages claims workflows and information on internal claims system
- Coordinates movement of information between site operations, our insurers, and counsel
- Coordinates communication on property claims between site operations, and insurance company, providing support to operations in presenting claims to insurer
- Reviews invoicing from TPA, obtains approval to process and updates into monthly claims data.
- Monitors for receipt of subrogation claim payments
- Assists with the preparation monthly loss reports for CAPREIT.
Tenant Insurance
- Tracks all incoming tenant insurance as well as cancellation notifications
- Works closely with Insurance Analyst to educate site staff and tenants on the importance of tenant insurance
- Reports to OM’s on participation rates in their portfolios
- Manages the tenant insurance function on the resident portal, once rolled out
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of property/casualty claims experience
- Insurance or risk management related courses (CIP/CRM) completed or in process preferred
- Ability and comfort to review insurance and contractual documents (insurance certificates, policy documents, contracts, etc.)
- Flexibility – CAPREIT is a very active organization – need to multitask, self-regulate and prioritize
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work in team environments and with remote team members
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Must be bilingual in French and English as this team is based in Toronto.
